Models of carbon wheel available from Easton

There are mainly tubular wheels in Easton's carbon wheel range which centres around the select EC90 models, each covering a different type of cycle racing.

Easton pride themselves on attention to detail in their components which are all their own designs. Similar control in construction allows a high tension to be achieved which gives lateral stiffness and a high level of responsiveness to power input.

Easton EC90 Aero Wheel

Easton EC90 Aero Wheel
The deep 56mm section of this wheel lends itself to events where lateral stiffness and direct responsiveness to acceleration are essential, together with a low drag. An obvious choice for fast flat road racing, time trials and triathlons with a wheelset weight for the EC90 Aero of 1335 g.

Spokes are Sapim bladed with 18 radial front and 20 on the rear, radial on non-drive and two cross on the drive side. Like the other Easton carbon wheels, these run on ceramic bearings.

Easton EC90 SLX Wheels

Easton EC90 SLX Wheels
This is designed to be the ultimate road climbing wheel at a wheelset weight of only 1175 g and a rim depth of 25 mm. Bearings are ceramic and use 18 radial spokes on the front and 24 on the rear, radial on non-drive and two cross on the drive side.

Because of Easton's meticulous attention, these wheels are nevertheless still stiff and strong enough for sprinting.

Easton EC90 TT Wheel

Easton EC90 TT Wheel
These wheels use the idea of a novel narrower front hub flange to reduce frontal spoke area by 50%, while also using a 90mm rim section to give a very high performance carbon time trial wheelset at a weight of 1424 g.

Improved aerodynamic performance results in Easton's wind tunnel show that the low drag is equal to or better than the top wheels from other manufacturers. The spoke split on the EC90 TT wheels is 12 on the front, 16 on the rear and the wheel runs on ceramic bearings. There are both Shimano and Campagnolo specific sets available.

Easton EC90 SL Wheels

Easton EC90 SL Wheels
This wheel has obviously been designed for maximum versatility with a 38 mm rim, giving good climbing characteristics, strength for more rigourous rides and also aerodynamic qualities to minimise drag in long fast flat racing.

The EC90 SL uses ceramic bearings with tool free adjustment and has compatibility with Shimano, Campagnolo and SRAM cassette bodies. Spoke count is 18 radial on the front and 24 on the rear, radial on the non-drive side and one cross on the drive side.

It's available in tubular and clincher versions which have the same component specifications. The clinchers are particularly designed to be extremely tough with a single process rim manufacture to give extremely high impact resistance.

Wheelset weight for the Easton EC90 SL is 1232g for the tubular and 1460g for the clincher.
